The Numismatic Museum in the context of “This is Athens City Festival” , in collaboration with the Development and Tourism Promotion Company ( EATA ) of the Municipality of Athens and the Social Cooperative Enterprise of Collective and Social Benefit CORNUCOPIA , actively participates in its first open spring multifactorial festival .

After the last two difficult years, due to the pandemic, the new extroverted annual festival “This is Athens City Festival” functions as a tonic cultural injection creating a true atmosphere of celebration.

Accepting this unexpected opportunity, the Numismatic Museum invites all its visitors, but also the residents of Athens, to an unprecedented and multi-level experience both in Ilios Melathron, the Palace of Troy, and in its courtyard, the Garden of the Muses, with four special exciting music and creative workshops with free admission:

Engraving Art event with the theme “Engraving and Coins” by two distinguished members of the group “Ergani 5 + 1” , the artists and conservators of Works of Art Vasiliki Kolipetsa and Alexandra Gini. The event will be accompanied by two musicians, guitarist Manolis Zacheilas and violinist Sofianthi Chalkiadaki.

The Classic meets the Modern: From “Carmen” to Sinatra!

Musical, operatic journey, melodic and unpredictable, where “Carmen” flirts with Frank Sinatra, “Triaviata” meets “Opera of Five” and “Barber of Seville” dances “Cheek To Cheek” with Gilda from ” Rigoletto “. The program begins with favorite songs from the Mediterranean, but also from Latin America, without missing classic songs from famous musicals that everyone has loved, but also jazz classics.

The Opera is in order, covering the main body of the program, with the most charming melodies from the world lyric repertoire. Excerpts from the Greek operetta, as well as timeless Neapolitan canzones could not be missing from the program.

Three unique lyrical voices and a piano travel on stage in this musical journey: the soprano Lamprini Kartali (friendly participation), the tenor Christos Lazos, the bass Pavlos Maropoulos and the pianist Benjamin Hatzikoumbaroglou.

Garden of Muses of Ilios Melathros

1922-2022, 100 years of Memory, Creation, Renaissance

A moving tribute with a literary tone to one of the most “bitter” chapters of Greek history and to some of the most important Greek texts written about the Asia Minor Catastrophe in the context of its 100th anniversary.

An ode to the lost Homelands focusing on works by great Greek writers, with roots from the land of Ionia: “The Number 31328”, “Peace” and “Aeolian Land” by Elias Venezis meet “Damned Soils” and “The Dead” They are waiting “by Didos Sotiriou. At the same time we will enjoy a musical anthology with sounds and songs from the Lost Homelands.

Two unique lyric voices appear on stage, a multi-talented actor and three charismatic musicians: the sprano Lamprini Kartali (friendly participation), the tenor Christos Lazos, the actress Daizi Sebekopoulou (friendly participation), the pianist Benikialo Hiatzi, Athena Kouki on the canon.
