On July 3 and 9, 2017 the Numismatic Museum hosted in its garden for the second consecutive year, the opening and closing ceremonies of its summer courses
Athens Summer School “Moving the EU forward”.
At the opening ceremony, the director of the Laboratory of European Integration and Policy, Associate Professor Emmanuela Doussi, welcomed the participants and presented the program of the summer school and the teachers. This was followed by a lecture by Associate Professor Konstantina Botsiou on the topic: “Movingthe EU forward: backfromthefuture”, which focused on the historical development of European integration. Any debate on the future of European integration begins with its history.
The keynote speaker at the closing ceremony was Professor Loukas Tsoukalis, who spoke about the future prospects of the European Union, the challenges and the dangers for the European idea of the rise of populism.
The summer courses are organized by the Laboratory of European Integration and Policy of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and are co-financed by the European program JeanMonnetmodule (2015-2018).
Distinguished professors and researchers specializing in European studies participated this year. Three of them are graduates of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of EKPA who work as professors in Universities abroad. Twelve lectures were given, with a total duration of 36 hours, which were attended by 20 students, of which 10 were students of foreign universities, while the rest came from various Greek universities.
