The Numismatic Museum organized the Spring 2003 periodical exhibition The Aegean of the Coins.

The aim of the exhibition was, through the presentation of the important monetary activity that developed in the Aegean islands from the 6th century BC, to highlight the importance of the Aegean as a place of perpetual movement of people, ideas and goods, as a channel of commercial and cultural transactions.

In this context, ancient coins from the collections of the Numismatic Museum as well as artifacts from Ephorates of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities were presented in the Netherlands (Allard Pierson Museum, Amsterdam, March 19-April 21) and Denmark (Museum of Ancient Art, University of Aarhus, 2-26 May).
