Ernst Ziller (Dresden 1837 \u2013 Athens 1923) settled in Greece in 1862 and worked as an assistant of the architect Theophil Hansen (1813-1891) in the construction of the Academy of Athens building.<\/p>\n

His following works, which influenced the whole townscape of Athens during the 19th century, comprised many buildings, primarily public ones, bearing elements of the ancient Greek, Roman and Renaissance architecture.<\/p>\n

His most famous works include the Municipal Theater of Athens, the National Theater, the New Palaces -today\u2019s Presidential Palace-, the building of the Hellenic Army Academy, the Central Post Office, the church of St. Luke on Patision Street, and Iliou Melathron.<\/p>\n

The works created by Ziller are equivalent to similar projects built in contemporary Vienna and the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
