Within the framework of the DO.RE.A. programme, the Numismatic Museum has the opportunity to adopt a holistic approach to its collection management, upgrading its laboratory infrastructure and digital documentation protocols. These improvements aim to reduce processing times, facilitate the examination and conservation of acquisitions, and create a flexible documentation programme featuring automated generation of evidence and digital Condition Reports for temporary exhibitions.<\/p>\n

Regarding the recording and digital documentation of acquisitions, a relational database has been developed to link recording data across all Museum Departments. As part of the programme, specialised photographic equipment was acquired, featuring an operating system that significantly accelerates the capture, processing, and archiving of images, while simultaneously automating the measurement of the specimens’ diameter and weight.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Conservation Laboratory has been equipped with a microscope featuring a digital microscopy camera with live-view and an image-processing screen, which will substantially assist in the examination of artefacts and the documentation of the conservation process.<\/p>\n

The registration, examination and analysis, conservation and storage of the collections included in the DO.RE.A. programme follow modern models and are carried out through the active collaboration of the Museum\u2019s entire scientific staff.
