Visitors are allowed up to twenty (20) minutes before the end of the Museum’s opening hours

Closed on public holidays: January 1, March 25, Orthodox Easter Sunday, May 1, December 25, December 26

Free Admission Cards:

We inform you that the Numismatic Museum will not be able to receive supporting documents for the issuing of free entrance cards from 01/06 till 30/09/2023 due to lack of personnel and workload.
For your convenience, please contact the Ephorates of Antiquities of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

For the issuance of free admission cards in Museums and archeological sites, you must submit the documents by:
– Post
– With physical presence, exclusively every Monday – Wednesday – Friday from 12:00 to 14:00

Documentation required for teachers
– Document from the School’s Principal certifying the name of the teacher, their School Unit, their working field/specialty and their employment status (permanent or contract).
– Photocopy of their identification document
– Two recent ID-type photos
– Previous card (if available and expired)
– In case the School’s Principal is applying for a card, there needs to be certification from his/her Superior Authority (of Primary or Secondary Education). The Principal cannot be certified by himself/herself or by a subordinate employee under no circumstances.

Documentation required for retired teachers
– Copy of Pension Act (final or temporary)
– Photocopy of their identification document
– Two recent ID-type photos
– Previous card (if available and expired)

You may receive your cards exclusively on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 12:00 and 14:00. Your physical presence and signature is required.

You can also refer to other Hellenic Public Museums and Ephorates of Antiquities across the country.

In the context of the observance of the preventive measures against COVID-19, please during your visit to the Numismatic Museum to observe the following instructions:
In all the spaces inside the Museum keep the distance of at least 2 meters.
The use of a mask is mandatory throughout your visit.
The length of stay of guests on each floor should not exceed 15 minutes.
Guided tours are available for groups of up to 8 people.
